Stearns Weaver Miller Privacy Policy

Stearns Weaver Miller strives to assure that information related to users who visit our website (the “Site”) is used only in appropriate ways.    This statement of our Privacy Policy describes how we protect users’ information gathered via the web pages of our Site.

1. Terms of Use and Privacy Policies

This Policy is part of and incorporated into the Terms of Use, which is the contract between you and our Firm that governs use of the Site. Please review the Terms of Use before using the Site.

This Policy is supplemented by additional policies that may apply to particular activities; for example, a supplemental privacy policy may apply to a seminar or other Firm program for which you register on or through our Site. In addition, in connection with such activities, there may be links to providers such as hotels whose sites may also contain privacy policies.  The Terms of Use and this Policy incorporate all such other policies.

2. Information We Collect That You Provide.

You always have the choice to provide personal information or not. However, you must provide some personal information in connection with Firm seminars or other programs.  If you decide not to provide the required personal information, you will not be able to participate in such programs.  Please use good judgment and be cautious in deciding what personal information to provide.  We typically request only basic information, i.e., your name, email address, language (English or Spanish), organization with which you are affiliated, job title, city and state or province and country, and Internet Protocol address.

3. Information We Collect That You Do Not Provide.

In addition to personal information that you may provide, we may collect information about you from other sources. We also collect the following information about visitors to our Site automatically, through the use of “cookies” or other tracking mechanisms: your domain name and host for Internet access; the Internet address of the site from which you accessed our Site; the date and time you accessed the Site; your computer’s IP address and information about its operating system, browser and host; and the pages you visit.  You may set your browser to reject cookies but if you do, you may not be able to access some of the Site’s services or features. We also employ third-party tracking functionality to help us compile information about visitors to our Site.  Only we use that information; we do not allow others access to it.

4. Use of Personal Information

We may use personal information we collect for any lawful purpose and will use it for business or promotional activities, like communicating with you or registering you for a seminar or other Firm event.

5. Opt-out.

If you no longer wish to receive our blogs or feeds or newsletters for which y0u have subscribed, [1] you may opt out by clicking the unsubscribe link that appears at the bottom of our emails.

6. Links to Other Websites.

This Site may link to websites maintained by others over whom we have no control. Most likely, these sites will have their own terms of use and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content or policies of those websites. You should familiarize yourself with the terms of use privacy policies of any website you visit.

7. Information Security.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect, from unauthorized use or disclosure, the personal information we receive from visitors to our site.

8. Children.

We do not intend to collect information from children. Please do not provide any personal information unless you are at least 13 years of age.  If you have children, please caution them not to provide any personal information.  If you are 13 or older, please caution those younger than you not to provide personal information.  If a parent or guardian informs us, at our Address for Legal Notices (see below), that a child less than 13 years old has provided personal information, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to delete it from our database.

9. Identity Theft.

If you believe you are a victim of identity theft based solely on your use of our Site you are entitled by law to request information from us. If you write to us at our Address for Legal Notices (see below), we will explain what information we require in order to respond.  After receiving that information, we will supply, without charge, the information we are legally required to provide.
